Career Management From Top Of The Ladder – Executive Job Recruiters

Posted on Monday, December 22nd, 2014 at 6:46 am

No top level executive has reached that position without toiling hard. Sheer ambition along with proper grooming in strategic management has fuelled their ascent to the top of the ladder. It is no surprise that every business is personality driven and the organizational success is driven by the values practiced and incorporated by the senior management. These values are what helps successful executives to keep climbing up the ladder. In fact, career management becomes all the more important as you go on riding high on the path of success.

Today, we are going to discuss about effective career management strategies once a person has reached a respectable position on the ladder. The competition is even more fierce once you are out there and thus the importance of crafting an effective career management strategy increases as well.

How does having a vision help?

By this time, you have already proved yourself as a valuable asset to the organization and have imbibed sufficient knowledge about your chosen industry. You are also aware of your own strengths and weaknesses and about the pitfalls of your field. Aligning your abilities along with aspirations will help you to chart out a vision for your own career growth. In so doing, a very important aspect is taking into account your personal goals along with your professional goals. After all, your successful professional life can never make you truly happy if your personal life is in shambles.

The key lies in ‘Listening’

Your success at this level is heavily dependent on your interaction with your employees, colleagues and clients. Listening to their needs and opinions play a very important part in this ‘interaction’. Listening will help in ensuring that your efforts are going in the right direction. It will help you make amends before it is too late. It can’t be stressed enough that the process of listening is very different from that of merely hearing. Use all your faculties to listen to the unsaid words. Sometimes, your own ideas may be greeted with a verbal ‘yes’  while in reality the thing that will keep playing in the minds of people would be a ‘no way’. One wrong decision might hamper your career beyond repair. It is also important to bear in mind that sometimes, very unlikely sources come up with the most brilliant of ideas or insight.

Secure your future by creating opportunities for yourself

Create better opportunities for yourself instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity to present itself before you. Your vision for yourself will guide you to take the necessary steps be it, taking on a new project, moving into a new organization or assuming a different role. It indeed is a challenge but one which comes with enormous returns. After all, as all wise men have echoed over the ages ‘It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.

Confidence will help you reach new heights

Aren’t we all aware of the fact that confidence is the key to success? Your belief in your own abilities is of utmost importance in driving you further up the ladder. Your confidence will be reflected in your attitude and behavior at all times. It will earn you the respect of your subordinates and peers. It will also instill the belief in your superiors that you are ready to assume greater responsibilities. Setting achievable goals for yourself and attaining the same is a key step in becoming a more confident person.

We, at Construction Hunters, are executive job recruiters, and specialize in the recruiting process for construction employment services. We can fulfill the aspirations of rising up the ladder by providing the perfect opportunity to the right candidates on behalf of our client organizations and simplify the career management process for executives in the middle and higher management.

Laid-Off Construction Workers Switch Fields, Industry Now Seeing Shortages

Posted on Thursday, November 29th, 2012 at 5:03 pm

From January 2007 until last year, the construction industry laid off nearly 2.2 million workers and now that the home-building construction market along with commercial building sector are beginning to strengthen, the industry is facing an issue of finding workers.

Contractors in Texas, Iowa, Florida, and Arizona are feeling the affects of this shortage more than other states, but it is expected to spread across the U.S. over the next few years.

During the downturn in the construction industry, thousands of workers moved states to find work, retired or left the construction industry and found new fields to work in. Now that the industry is beginning to pick back up, some areas have been left with very few workers to help with the recent activity.

Many construction workers changed to positions such as truck driving, factory work, or oil rig work after the massive layoffs. The fact that the Baby Boomer generation is reaching the age of retirement and recent high school graduates are highly encouraged to go to college instead of entering the construction field are other reasons that the supply and demand gap exists.

This year, the number of building permit applications that have been filed for homes and apartment complexes has increased by nearly 31 percent over last year, according to the Census Bureau. As of September, the total construction spending is also up by 14 percent from February 2011, when the market hit an all-time low.

Engineers’ worker confidence down in recent survey

Posted on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 at 9:36 pm

A new quarterly report by Randstad Engineering has found that the Randstad Engineering Employee Confidence Index decreased compared to last quarter, the second consecutive decline. The company surveyed 146 engineers to measure their overall confidence in the engineering industry and discovered that more than half are worried about the economy and the availability of jobs.

Of the engineers surveyed, half believe there are fewer jobs available and therefore do not plan to look for a new job within the next 12 months. Their skepticism of the economy, domestic and abroad, appears to have shaken their confidence. However, this quarter showed an increase in a feeling of job security compared to the previous one.

Despite the decrease in confidence, the president of Randstad Engineering states that the engineering industry is projected to grow and hire faster than any other sector. Engineers are in high demand as less than 20 percent of college graduates with a B.S. in engineering actually going on to become licensed professionals.

With the hiring of engineers expected to grow, it is important to contact a trusted recruiting firm to find an engineering executive that can confidently and competently operate your business. Contact Construction Hunters at 214-989-6846 to learn more about how we can help you.

New Home Construction Climbs to Four-Year High

Posted on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 at 9:32 pm

Construction on new homes in the U.S. has climbed to a four-year high during the month of October. According to officials with Bloomberg, these numbers are much higher than the Commerce Department estimated.

Statistics show that the housing starts raised 3.6 percent to an 894,000 annual rate. The number of single-family homes has also increased to the highest rate of four years.

Economists have said that these numbers show signs that the housing industry is improving and that this will help the overall US economy.

It has been thought that a lower risk in falling property values as well as record low mortgage rates, may be the reason for the decline. There is no longer a large supply with the new increase in demand. Economists have stated that this is a good sign for the construction industry.

With an increase in housing construction, companies may be able to expand their business and create new jobs for the industry. The construction headhunters at Construction Hunters know the importance of leadership in a construction firm and are here to help you find the best fit for your business. Construction Industry Sees Growth in Employment

Posted on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at 4:12 pm

In the month of October, the U.S. construction industry added 17,000 jobs meaning that the unemployment rate in the industry fell by nearly 11.4 percent. This data comes from an analysis of federal information that was released on Nov. 2 by the Associated General Contractors of the United States.

Officials with the association have stated that despite the gains in the past five consecutive months, there have been little changes in the past year. They went on to state that employment in the industry is stuck in the same area with the exception of small, monthly increases.

For the industry overall, the month of October had a 0.4 percent increase. Although this is a slight increase, the overall numbers remain 2.2 million lower than where they were six years ago. This is when construction employment peaked at nearly 7.7 million workers.

Also seen in the month of October was the increase in both residential and nonresidential employment. Residential construction alone added nearly 4,700 jobs in the month of October. Employment in the residential industry is now up by 12,300 compared to last year at this time.

In the nonresidential business sector, nearly 12,200 jobs were added in October. This increased the overall total to 6,700 new workers. There were some losses during the month of October and this was seen in heavy and civil engineering construction firms.

Construction spending sees increase in September

Posted on Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at 3:39 pm

The month of September showed the largest increase in construction spending over the past three months, despite decreases seen in business and government spending. The spending increased by 0.6 percent, raising the annual rate to $851.6,  according to the Commerce Department.

For the first time since the housing market slumped in 2005, residential construction is expected to help the economic growth of the country. The housing market is just now beginning to show improvement, and residential projects rose nearly 2.8 percent.

Although residential construction is seeing an increase, private spending on nonresidential projects dropped by 0.1 percent. Public construction spending also followed this trend and dropped by nearly 0.8 percent, making this the third month in a row that this area has experienced a decrease. The decrease in projects funded by the federal government could be the reason for the overall construction spending decline.

If you are in the construction business and are looking to hire the best candidates for your company, contact the construction headhunters of Construction Hunters today. We understand the importance of recruiting the right employees for the positions you have available and would like  to help you find the best fit for your company as soon as possible.

University expansion results in job growth in construction industry

Posted on Monday, October 1st, 2012 at 2:19 pm

The plan to expand Pace University in order to create a distinct campus area in Downtown Manhattan is creating a boost in the New York construction industry.

The plan to expand the university includes the development of a 24-story residence hall and nearby retail space. The building will include kitchens, fitness centers, pool table areas, and lounges for recreational use.

Pace University has been growing in the region since 1906, but it is often still thought of as a commuter school. Officials have stated that this is no longer the case and that the development of these two buildings will help more students live on campus as enrollment at the university continues to increase.

In New York, the overall construction industry made $27.4 billion in 2011, which was a 3.5 percent decrease since 2010. However, other construction projects are under way that will also add to job growth in this industry, including Columbia University’s Mahattanville expansion and NYU’s development in Greenwich Village.
